Equator Geo, a start-up focused on climate change, water technology, and geospatial solutions, has won national acclaim by securing a ₹20 lakh grant in the AMRUT India Pitch Pilot Startup Challenge. This challenge is part of the AMRUT 2.0 Mission by the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. Their winning idea is called 'water credit for water conservation.' It is a fresh, market-based system inspired by carbon credits. This system allows urban local bodies to gain measurable water credits by adopting verified water saving, recharge, and conservation steps. These credits can then be turned into money, giving cities an extra income source while encouraging responsible water management. Equator Geo will now work with the Union Ministry to roll out the pilot project and improve the water credit model for use across India. This collaboration may help cities manage water smarter and boost sustainable conservation nationwide. The award was announced on December 5, 2025.
