Ex-TDB Officials Seek Bail in Sabarimala Gold Misuse Case
December 5, 2025
Former Travancore Devaswom Board president N. Vasu and ex-administrative officer B. Murari Babu have approached the Kerala High Court seeking bail. They face charges in the alleged gold misappropriation at Sabarimala temple. Their bail requests were earlier denied by the Court of Enquiry Commissioner and Special Judge, Kollam. Both are charged under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. According to the remand report, Mr. Vasu said the temple’s door frame was covered with copper plates, not gold-plated ones. The repairs were given to businessman Unnikrishnan Potti. Mr. Vasu denied any intentional wrongdoing, stating he only passed on communications from his subordinates to the board and never suggested any specific decisions.
