Coconut farmers in Vijayarai, Pedavegi mandal, held a protest demanding fair prices. They said prices fell sharply from ₹26,000 to between ₹14,000 and ₹15,000 per 1,000 coconuts. "Traders are slashing prices by citing inflows from Karnataka and Kerala," said K. Srinivas, state convener of the Andhra Pradesh Coconut Farmers’ Association. He called this a case of market manipulation. Farmers want the government to fix the price at ₹20,000 per 1,000 coconuts. They warned of protests across the state if their demands are ignored. Leaders like Munnangi Subbareddy, Bollu Ramakrishna, Koneru Satish Babu, Gudibandi Veerareddy, Konda Vijay Prasad, and Alapati Vasu also took part in the protest. The situation highlights the struggles faced by coconut growers amid price volatility.
