A parliamentary panel led by JD(U) leader Sanjay Jha is set to summon top executives of IndiGo and officials from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and Ministry of Civil Aviation. The committee wants to know the reasons behind the mass cancellation of IndiGo flights that stranded thousands of passengers across India's airports. A panel member said, "The panel has taken serious note of the difficulties faced by thousands of passengers due to disruption in air services." Even members of parliament attending the Winter Session in New Delhi faced flight cancellations and delays. Several MPs also received complaints about rising airfares amid the crisis. CPI(M) Rajya Sabha member John Brittas, though not part of the panel, demanded a joint parliamentary committee or judicial inquiry into the flight disruptions. IndiGo cancelled over 220 flights at Delhi and Mumbai airports on Sunday, marking the sixth day of disruption. The DGCA issued notices on Saturday to IndiGo CEO Pieter Elbers and COO Porqueras, seeking explanations. IndiGo's parent company, Interglobe Aviation's Board of Directors, has formed a Crisis Management Group to monitor the situation and ensure passenger refunds. The company stated it is doing all it can "to take care of the challenges faced by its customers."
