Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary on Sunday announced the setting up of 100 Fast Track Courts in Bihar. These courts aim to clear over 1.8 million pending cases faster and reduce the load on current courts. "The State government is committed to speeding up the judicial process," said Mr. Choudhary. Eight Fast Track Courts will open in Patna, while districts like Gaya, Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga, and Bhagalpur will get four each. Other districts will have between one and three courts based on need. Priority cases are chosen by District Magistrates and Police officials. To run these courts, around 900 jobs per court will be created, including clerks, stenographers, and drivers. Out of the 100 courts, 79 will specifically handle cases related to the Arms Act to strengthen law and order. Meanwhile, Bihar’s Industries Minister Dilip Kumar Jaiswal said the state plans to form a Bihar Industrial Security Force (BISF), similar to the Central Industrial Security Force. This aims to protect entrepreneurs investing in Bihar. Mr. Jaiswal noted, "Investors are eager to invest and set up industries in Bihar," and the BISF will ensure a safe environment for them. This move follows Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s recent call to attract investment worth ₹50 lakh crore over five years.
