Nandyal Group Disposes Old Deity Photo Frames Safely to Protect Temple Ponds
December 7, 2025
The Mana Ooru, Mana Gudi, Mana Bhadyatha group on Sunday disposed of old and abandoned photo frames of deities in Nandyal town. They made sure the water body used for immersion did not get polluted. This organisation works to protect temples and their water bodies across the state and country. Founder and INTACH Nandyal Chapter convenor M.V. Sivakumar Reddy said many people discard old photo frames near temple trees without knowing the right way to dispose them. Volunteers collected nearly 300 old photo frames from different places in the town for respectful disposal. Mr. Reddy explained, “The photo frames cannot be immersed directly with the glass sheet and wooden frames as they can pollute the water body. We have given training to our volunteers to separate the photos from the wooden frame and glass sheet.” After priests performed prayers, the photos were immersed in the pond at Swacch Bharat Park in Padmavati Nagar. The wooden frames and glass sheets that could be reused were handed over to a local trader who joined the event. The trader will use and give these frames free to the poor. Damaged frames and glass sheets that could not be reused were taken to the dump yard. This careful disposal helps keep temple ponds clean and protects the environment.
