On Sunday, BJP Kisan Morcha members, along with farmers and agricultural workers from Kalaburagi, held a protest against the State government. Heavy rains and floods had caused 100% crop damage in the district. The protest march started from Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel Circle and moved to the Deputy Commissioner’s office. Protesters submitted a memorandum addressed to the Governor through the Deputy Commissioner. They demanded quick release of pending compensation for affected farmers. They also called for clearing ₹620 crore in milk incentive dues and raising the milk incentive from ₹5 to ₹7 per litre. Former MP Umesh Jadhav criticized the government for delay in compensation and said sugarcane growers face losses. He claimed they were paid ₹2,950 per tonne instead of the promised ₹3,300 due to political interference. BJP leaders including Basavaraj Mattimod, Shashil Namoshi, Amarnath Patil, Baburao Chavan, Dattatreya Patil Revoor, Avvanna Myakeri, Ambaraya Ashtagi, and Sudha Halkai joined the protest.
