Australia Approves Destruction of 57,000 Hectares of Threatened Species Habitat in 2025
Australia allowed the clearing of over 57,000 hectares of land important for threatened species in 2025, the largest in 15 years, says the Australian Conservation Foundation. Most clearing happened in Western Australia, Queensland, and New South Wales. Mining caused two-thirds of the damage. New environment laws aim to improve protection.
