The NTR Commissionerate police held the last rites for a male monkey that died in the park near the Police Control Room (PCR). Traffic Sub-Inspector Faizulla Baig told The Hindu, “We don’t know the reasons behind the death of the monkey. As per the directions of Assistant Commissioner of Police, Vamshidhar Goud, we held a funeral for the monkey.” Police constables Nagendra and Deva, who performed the final rites, said many monkeys play in the scrap park and greenery along the canal bund. They found the dead monkey on Saturday and alerted senior officials. Mr. Faizulla Baig shared, “When we get tired after regulating traffic at the busy PCR Junction, we used to relax seeing monkeys jumping on the trees and playing in the park. We are saddened after seeing one of the monkey’s dead.” The funeral took place on the canal bund in a befitting manner, added constable Leela.
