An SUV carrying a family of three rammed into a milk tanker on the Bengaluru–Mysuru highway near Sangabasavanadoddi on Sunday morning. The SUV tried to overtake the tanker from the left and crashed. The impact caused a fire in the SUV's engine, engulfing the vehicle in flames within minutes. The family escaped by jumping out just in time, suffering only minor injuries. Passers-by and highway patrol rushed them to a nearby hospital. The fire blocked traffic for several kilometres. Fire and Emergency Services put out the fire and removed the burnt SUV. Traffic resumed around 5:30 p.m. The police said preliminary reports indicate speeding and risky overtaking may have caused the crash. Bengaluru South district traffic police are investigating the exact cause.
