The Karnataka Legislature winter session began on December 8 in Belagavi. The Assembly paid respects to six recently deceased notable figures, including environmentalist Saalumarada Thimmakka and novelist S.L. Bhyrappa. Attendance was low, with about 100–110 members present in the 224-member Assembly. Opposition and ruling benches each had roughly 55 members. Attendance is expected to rise when full business begins on December 9. Meanwhile, Maharashtra Ekikaran Samiti (MES) leaders held a protest event called 'Maha Melava' without permission. Leaders Manohar Kinekar, Malojirao Ashtekar, and Shubham Shelke were detained by authorities. On leadership matters, MLC Yathindra, son of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, expressed strong confidence that his father will complete the full term as Chief Minister. Yathindra said in Belagavi, "Personally, I have confidence that my father will complete the full term as Chief Minister. The Chief Minister is running the government well and there are no mistakes on the part of the government. People are also happy with the Congress government." In defence news, Tata Advanced Systems and Lockheed Martin announced the groundbreaking of a new Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) facility in Bengaluru. This facility will support C-130J Super Hercules aircraft. Construction is due to finish in 2026, with the first aircraft expected for MRO operations in early 2027. The facility will become part of Lockheed Martin’s global network and will also serve KC-130J and C-130 B-H legacy aircraft in the future.
