Kerala's local body elections are wrapping up with vote counting set for December 13, 2025, according to the State Election Commission (SEC). The SEC will announce results the same day. Newly-elected members and councillors across Kerala’s local bodies, whose term ends on December 20, will take the oath on December 21, 2025. The SEC has instructed returning officers to handle the elections of presidents and vice-presidents in grama, block, and district panchayats, as well as municipalities. In the six Corporations, District Collectors will supervise the elections for Mayors and Deputy Mayors. The Local Self-Governments department has issued a circular with detailed steps to follow, based on the Kerala Panchayat Raj Act and Kerala Municipalities Act. These measures cover procedures after polling and the vote counting stages. This organized process ensures a smooth transition for new councils to assume office after the 2025 local body polls in Kerala.
