December 11, 2025
A tragic accident happened late Wednesday night near Laalagondanahalli Gate on NH44, northeast Bengaluru. Around 11:30 p.m., a speeding car lost control, jumped over the highway median, and crashed into an oncoming KSRTC bus. All three occupants of the car died immediately at the scene. They are Mohan Kumar (33), Suman V. (28), and Sagar S. (23), from Sadahalli near the city.
The police said the three were returning from a wedding. They believe the car was going too fast. The car skidded about 100 feet before jumping across the median into the opposite lane. A senior police officer stated, "The collision caused the car to topple again and land on the divider. The intensity of the crash is evident from the condition of the vehicle, which is irreparable."
The vehicle's speedometer was not found at the scene, so the exact speed is unknown. The victims' bodies were badly damaged, so they could not be taken to a hospital. Police have ordered blood tests to check if the driver was under the influence of alcohol.
The KSRTC bus had 25 passengers. Three were hurt but their injuries are minor. They were taken to nearby hospitals and are now safe.
Police noted that there is no CCTV footage from the location. Based on the bus driver’s complaint, Devanahalli Traffic Police have filed a First Information Report (FIR) against the deceased driver. The charges include rash driving (Section 281), endangering life (Section 125A), and causing death by negligence (Section 106(1)).
