AP Govt Guarantees 24-Hour Payment for Paddy Farmers, Minister Acts to Secure Fair Price
December 14, 2025
Minister Kolusu Parthasarathy said the Andhra Pradesh government is committed to protecting farmers and paying them quickly. "Every grain of paddy produced will be procured with payments released in 24 hours," he said, adding this system is unmatched in India. The minister spoke after inaugurating a free medical and blood donation camp at Totlavalluru.
On Saturday, Mr. Parthasarathy stopped three lorries carrying paddy from Pedda Muttevi village. He refused to allow them to move unless farmers were paid ₹1,650 per quintal. He said, "My firm action was solely to ensure farmers received fair prices strictly as per government norms."
The government has allocated nearly ₹20,000 crore to make prompt payments possible—often within four to five hours. Mr. Parthasarathy warned that action would be taken against millers or brokers exploiting farmers. This strict approach aims to secure farmers' incomes and stop unfair practices.
