Hyderabad is set to launch a multi-level parking app soon. This app will help motorists find nearby parking spaces easily. The announcement was made by GHMC Commissioner R.V. Karnan on December 18, 2025, during a meeting at the Telangana Integrated Command and Control Centre in Banjara Hills. The app is part of efforts to fight growing traffic congestion in the city’s commercial zones. Parking has become a major cause of traffic jams, especially near hospitals and busy markets. The meeting, led by Hyderabad Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar, decided to expand multi-level parking across the city. Officials from GHMC, traffic police of Hyderabad, Rachakonda and Cyberabad, HYDRAA, the Water Board, and the electricity department attended the meeting. They discussed practical solutions to improve urban mobility and infrastructure. To improve traffic flow and pedestrian safety, plans include relocating bus stops from narrow roads to wider ones and moving Sulabh complexes away from road medians. Foot overbridges will be built where many pedestrians cross, which often slows traffic and causes accidents. Central railings will be installed in accident-prone areas such as Puranapul, Bahadurpura, M.J. Market, Masab Tank, and Begumpet to stop unsafe road crossings. HYDRAA Commissioner A.V. Ranganath promised more inspections of waterlogged areas during rains and steps to remove footpath encroachments. Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) D. Joel Davis listed challenges like badly placed bus stops, public toilets blocking roads, lack of pedestrian paths, and illegal auto-rickshaw parking near Osmania Hospital. He called for assigned auto-rickshaw parking zones to ease congestion. Cyberabad Joint Commissioner of Police Gajarao Bhupal recommended giving the same contractor both excavation and restoration jobs after road digging to avoid delays. Water Works Managing Director Ashok Reddy said the sewer and drainage system is being strengthened and lasting solutions need cooperation among departments. The meeting also included senior officials from HMDA, the cantonment board, Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board, and other agencies.
