38th Hyderabad Book Fair Opens at NTR Stadium with Thousands of Visitors and Rare Books
December 20, 2025
The 38th Hyderabad Book Fair began on Friday at 4 p.m. at NTR Stadium near Indira Park. The venue was packed with visitors and cars blocking the entrance. An announcer warned, “Please remove your vehicles from the entrance, or the police will take care of them. We are not responsible.”
The fair had already attracted thousands of people even before the official inauguration could take place. The stadium, usually used for cricket, was transformed with white tents and green carpets. This area was named Ande Sri Praanganam, after the famous lyricist and poet.
The fair offered a huge variety of books for all readers. The State Library showcased rare books, manuscripts, maps, and Braille scripts. Local publisher Emesco had multiple stalls with books sorted by category. Children's publishers, handwriting and calligraphy materials, maps, stationery, language-themed T-shirts, magnetic bookmarks, fiction, self-help, and math books were all present. Visitors could also enjoy free guided meditation.
A special stall focused on independent writers. At the center of the venue, a stage was set for guests, book launches, and cultural shows. At 7 p.m., Minister for Culture Jupally Krishna Rao spoke from the dais. He urged young people to help their parents read and write. He also announced that all gram panchayats will soon have library facilities, with official instructions on the way.
Food stalls offered quick snacks near the fair entrance. The event runs daily from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. until December 29.
