The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a cold wave alert for 11 districts in Telangana on Monday, December 22. The districts expected to face very cold conditions include Adilabad, Kumaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Warangal, Hanamkonda, Jangaon, Siddipet, Sangareddy, Medak, and Kamareddy. Hyderabad and its nearby areas will see mostly clear skies for the next 24 hours. However, the IMD bulletin said, "Fog or misty conditions are very likely to prevail during morning hours. Mist or hazy conditions are very likely to prevail during night hours." It also added, "The minimum temperatures are likely to be below normal by 2°C to 3°C during the next two days. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 29°C and 12°C respectively." Data from the Telangana Development Planning Society (TGDPS) shows that between December 20 and 21, 14 out of 33 districts recorded temperatures below 10°C. Kohir in Sangareddy recorded the lowest minimum temperature of 5.3°C. Other low temperatures recorded include 6.9°C in Moinabad (Rangareddy), 7°C in Nawabpet (Vikarabad), 7.2°C in Tiryani (Kumaram Bheem Asifabad), 7.6°C in Bheempoor (Adilabad), and 7.9°C in Yeldurthy (Medak) and Gandhari (Kamareddy). Several other districts had temperatures between 8.6°C and 9.9°C. The remaining 19 districts had temperatures ranging from 10°C to 13°C. Within Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits, University of Hyderabad recorded 8.3°C while Marredpally recorded 11.2°C.
