Technoworld, an IT unit run by five women in Kozhikode, is set to become Kerala’s first women’s incubation centre for IT, online services, and digital training from January. Established in 2004 by Kudumbashree Mission with a ₹3.5 lakh loan, it now has assets worth nearly ₹80 lakh. The unit began with data entry work for the Regional Transport Office. It grew from 10 computers to over 50, handling tasks for government offices like motor vehicle services, hospital kiosks, and Kozhikode municipality. The core team includes C.P. Jisha, K. Vijaya (team leader), N.P. Sabira (secretary), K. Divya, and A. Beena. Ms. Jisha says, “I came here looking for a job, and now I am helping other women find their own careers. That makes everything worth it.” Kudumbashree’s district coordinator, P.C. Kavitha, said, “Kudumbashree provides the same support to everyone. How carefully and fully they used the opportunity given to them makes the difference.” The centre has trained around 250 people and employed over 2,500 individuals so far. It currently supports 72 workers handling diverse digital assignments. The incubation centre will welcome women aged 18 and above, including young students, homemakers, and those returning to work. N.P. Sabira said, “The infrastructure for the incubation centre is ready in every sense. Now we are waiting for those women with dreams to come in.” The team’s unity helped them survive early financial worries and the challenges of balancing work and family. Technoworld's journey shows how dreams mixed with hard work and teamwork can create lasting change for women in Kerala’s IT sector.
