New Link Bridge in Hyderabad Cuts Travel Time by Half
January 2, 2026
Hyderabad's in-charge Minister Ponnam Prabhakar inaugurated a 48.2 metres long link bridge on January 2, 2026. The bridge connects Chikkadpally and Domalguda over the Hussain Sagar surplus nala. The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) built it at a cost of ₹6 crore.
This new bridge will reduce travel time from Chikkadpally to Ashok Nagar, Domalguda, Liberty Junction, GHMC Head Office, and the Secretariat by nearly half. GHMC issued a press note confirming the improved connectivity.
Speaking at the inauguration, Mr. Prabhakar said, “In a city of this magnitude, infrastructure such as roads, stormwater drains, street lighting, parks and other civic amenities must grow in proportion to the population. The Chief Minister is moving forward with comprehensive plans to address these needs.”
He also highlighted that Greater Hyderabad has expanded into the largest city in India by area and population after merging municipalities around the Outer Ring Road (ORR). This bridge is part of ongoing efforts to support the city’s rapid growth with better infrastructure.
