Survey Finds 83.61% Trust in EVMs for Karnataka's 2024 Lok Sabha Elections
January 3, 2026
A recent survey shows that 83.61% of respondents in Karnataka trust electronic voting machines (EVMs) and the election process during the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. The survey was done by GRAAM, a Mysuru-based NGO, hired by the Karnataka Monitoring and Evaluation Authority (KMEA), a state government agency.
The survey's official title is “Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Evaluation of Endline Survey of Knowledge, Attitude and Practice (KAP) of Citizens.” It was commissioned by Karnataka’s Chief Electoral Officer through KMEA after GRAAM won a competitive bidding process, scoring highest in technical evaluation.
The findings have stirred political controversy. The BJP used the survey to challenge Congress's criticism of the Election Commission. However, the Congress party called the BJP’s interpretation "politically motivated and factually incorrect."
Regarding the mention of Dr. R Balasubramaniam by Congress leaders, sources clarified that although he founded GRAAM, he has not been involved with the NGO for several years. They stressed that "any attempt to attribute political motives on GRAAM's work is factually incorrect."
GRAAM has been involved in many state government projects through KMEA, including developing vision and policy documents, and assessments like the Annabhagya evaluation in 2014 and the Nava Karnataka Vision 2025 focused on skill and rural development.
