The forest department is carefully monitoring an injured tiger inside a private tea estate at Porthi village near Udhagamandalam town. The tiger was found with wounds likely caused by a fight with another tiger. Local residents spotted the animal and alerted officials. Staff from the Udhagai South Forest Range are using thermal drones to track the tiger. It has moved a few hundred feet since it was last seen on Saturday, January 3. As the closest reserve forest is less than 100 meters away, officials expect the tiger to return there by Monday, January 5. "Veterinarians from the forest department are also monitoring the situation. The animal has also shown improvement since yesterday with regard to it being able to move," said a forest official. The department released drone images taken on Sunday, January 4, showing the tiger resting among tea bushes. The main goal is to keep a close watch on the animal and ensure people stay away to avoid any accidents.
