The Hindu Lit For Life Festival Returns to Chennai With Star Authors and Engaging Workshops

The Hindu Lit For Life, a grand two-day literary festival, will be held in Chennai on January 17 and 18 at Lady Andal School. Dr. Nirmala Lakshman, Festival Director and Chairperson of The Hindu Group, said, "We have tried to ensure diversity of topics and authors." The event will cover pressing world issues like the Constitution's importance, health, and journalism in a divided world. Former Chief Justice of India D.Y. Chandrachud will open the festival with a talk on why the Constitution matters. Renowned authors Banu Mushtaq and Kiran Desai will discuss their Booker Prize-winning and shortlisted works. Other notable speakers include former Chief Economic Adviser Arvind Subramanian, British philosopher A.C. Grayling, diplomat Gopalkrishna Gandhi, musician T.M. Krishna, and many others. The festival highlights regional literature, featuring writers like Perumal Murugan and Imayam. Workshops will focus on subjects from ancient Tamil scripts to healthy living and playwriting. Dr. Lakshman said, "We never just descend into entertainment," ensuring content stays meaningful. The festival also includes appearances by director Mari Selvaraj, chess champion Viswanathan Anand, and nutritionist Rujuta Diwekar.
