BJP Demands Judicial Probe After Worker Sujata Handi 'Disrobed' During Arrest
January 8, 2026
BJP Mahila Morcha State President C. Manjula has called the arrest incident of BJP worker Sujata Handi, where she was "disrobed," a case of Congress-sponsored goondaism. After visiting Sujata Handi's home and meeting her family, Ms. Manjula accused woman Sub-Inspector K.S. Hatti of acting like a goon in police uniform.
Ms. Manjula demanded that Police Commissioner N. Shashikumar take strict action against the officer, including dismissal. She said, "Police Commissioner N. Shashikumar should take action against her. She should be dismissed from service."
She also said the State Commission for Women is not acting fairly. Hence, they have informed the National Commission for Women to take action.
Responding to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's claim that Sujata Handi "disrobed" herself during the arrest, Ms. Manjula condemned it and said, "If the Chief Minister has any respect towards women, he should immediately order a thorough inquiry."
She added that if the accused woman harmed any women constables, the police should act according to the law.
After protests by BJP on Wednesday, the Police Commissioner started an inquiry led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police.
