Over 15 Fall Sick in Greater Noida After Drinking Contaminated Water, Locals Demand Action
January 8, 2026
At least 15 residents of Delta 1 in Greater Noida fell ill over four days, reporting loose motions and stomach pain. They blame contaminated drinking water mixed with sewage for their sickness. The Gautam Buddha Nagar Vikas Samiti wrote to the GNIDA chief demanding immediate action on the high TDS levels and sewer-mixed water. Their letter states, "It is mandatory to implement a permanent monitoring system, regular lab-test, pipeline audit, and emergency protocol to prevent contaminated water supply in future." Residents also complained of yellow-colored water coming from taps for days. They say repeated complaints to GNIDA have not solved the issue. So far, GNIDA has not confirmed water contamination in the area. This incident raises urgent concerns about water safety and public health in Greater Noida. Authorities are expected to respond soon to the residents' demands.
