The Telangana Transport Department announced on January 8, 2026, that new vehicle buyers no longer need to take their vehicles to regional transport offices (RTO) for registration. Instead, authorised vehicle dealers will submit registration applications online under a new dealer point registration system. This applies to fully built motorcycles and motor cars sold by authorised dealers. Dealers must upload documents like the vehicle invoice, Form 21 (sale certificate), Form 22 (road-worthiness certificate), insurance papers, buyer’s proof of address, and photos of the vehicle, engine, and chassis numbers. The authorities will review the submissions online and assign registration numbers upon approval. Registration certificates will then be sent directly to vehicle owners. Telangana is currently moving services to the VAHAN portal, but until then, the current software provider must update the system within 15 days to enable dealer point registration.
