Saudi Arabia’s Jeddah Tower to Become World’s Tallest Building, Surpassing Burj Khalifa
January 11, 2026
Saudi Arabia is building Jeddah Tower to be the world’s tallest building, surpassing Dubai’s Burj Khalifa. The tower will rise over 1,000 meters (more than 3,280 feet) tall with around 130 floors. It is part of the Jeddah Economic City, aimed at making Jeddah a top business and tourist hub. Construction resumed in 2024–2025, with completion expected in the late 2020s.
Jeddah Tower will house a luxury hotel, high-end apartments with Red Sea views, premium offices, retail stores, and the world’s highest observation deck. It will feature some of the fastest elevators ever built. Advanced systems will control the climate and energy use to handle the extreme height.
Designed by Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill, the team behind Burj Khalifa, the tower’s tapered shape cuts wind impact. A strong concrete and steel core, plus smart technologies, ensure safety and stability. This project is one of the most complex in engineering history.
Costs for Jeddah Tower exceed $1 billion, with the broader urban project valued in tens of billions. Saudi Arabia aims to boost business, tourism, jobs, and global standing through this mega investment.
Burj Khalifa, standing 828 meters tall since 2010, will be overtaken by nearly 200 meters. Jeddah Tower is more than a new record; it reflects Saudi Arabia’s growing power in architecture and city design. It represents a bold new chapter in human ambition and the country’s Vision 2030 goals.
When completed, Jeddah Tower will be a global icon, visible from miles away, changing the skyline and inspiring generations.
