About 1.2 lakh people applied to convert B-Khata plots to A-Khata under Karnataka's new scheme, said Deputy Chief Minister and Bengaluru Development Minister D.K. Shivakumar on Thursday. The state opened a 100-day window starting November 1, 2025, allowing property owners to convert by paying 5% of the property's guidance value as a fee. Out of the 1.2 lakh applications, 86% have been processed, and 18,000 are still pending, Mr. Shivakumar stated. He added, "We have rejected 46,000 applications, and the rest have been approved. The rejected applications will be reviewed again, and the reasons will be assessed." For applications missing necessary sketches, 300 have been approved after manual verification. On e-Khata applications, Mr. Shivakumar mentioned 9.34 lakh received, with 9.31 lakh cleared. A new rule requires decisions on these applications within two days. Additionally, a 100-member team has been formed to handle problematic khata applications.
