QUETTA: Train services in Balochistan were halted again on Friday, just a day after they had resumed. The suspension follows a five-day halt after multiple attacks in the region. Muhammad Kashif, spokesperson for Pakistan Railways Quetta division, said Jaffar Express (Quetta to Peshawar) and the Karachi-bound Bolan Mail were suspended once more. The passenger train to Chaman remains stopped as well. Authorities had restored train services on Thursday after the security situation improved. Mobile internet services were still suspended in many areas, but Quetta was expected to regain connectivity on Friday. Earlier, after attacks on January 31, the military had launched “Operation Radd-ul-Fitna-1” to clear terrorist cells. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) reported that the operation killed 216 terrorists. Sadly, 36 civilians, including women and children, and 22 security personnel lost their lives during the attacks and operations. The ISPR said, "a broader series of intelligence-based operations were launched in multiple areas to dismantle terrorist sleeper cells through sustained combing and sanitisation operations."
