The Tamil Nadu interim Budget for 2026-2027 will be presented on February 17 in the Legislative Assembly, said Speaker M. Appavu. The Assembly session starts at 9:30 a.m. Finance Minister Thangam Thennarasu will present the Budget before the upcoming Assembly elections in April or May 2026. On February 20, the Finance Minister will also seek approval for advance grants for 2026-2027 and additional expenses for 2025-2026. "The Business Advisory Committee will decide the exact number of session days," the Speaker added. When asked about live telecast of the Assembly sessions, Mr. Appavu said that full live streaming will start soon, as urged by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin. Currently, only question hour and Ministers’ replies are live. Debates on demand for grants will also be livestreamed, subject to the committee’s decision. The Speaker said, "Digitisation of past Assembly proceedings is ongoing, allowing access from anywhere in the world." Addressing Opposition claims of interrupted live speeches, Mr. Appavu said, "Each member gets a set time for their points, and broadcasts are not interrupted."
