Pak Supreme Court Moves PTI Request for Imran Khan's Jail Visit Rights to Authorities
February 7, 2026
ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Saturday confirmed that PTI’s request for immediate jail visit rights for party founder Imran Khan was sent to the "relevant executive authorities" for legal consideration. The memorandum was submitted on February 6 by PTI members led by Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, after Imran was denied access to his family and lawyers on court-appointed visitation days.
The SC noted a January 30 gathering of PTI leaders in front of the court, raising concerns about Imran’s access. The registrar assured these concerns would reach the Chief Justice. However, the matter was forwarded to appropriate authorities as it was outside the SC’s direct jurisdiction.
The petition highlighted that Imran Khan has been held in Rawalpindi’s Central Jail since August 5, 2023. It accused authorities of repeatedly denying him visitation rights, calling this isolation "torture" under international and local law. The memorandum also expressed regret over Islamabad High Court’s refusal to enforce visitation orders and delays in the Federal Constitutional Court hearing his appeals.
It mentioned secret medical procedures conducted on Imran without family knowledge, breaching jail rules.
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court has scheduled 13 petitions related to Imran and his wife Bushra Bibi for hearing on Monday, February 9, at 9am. A two-judge bench will hear these petitions including:
- Punjab government’s appeal against bail granted to Imran and his wife
- Imran’s appeal in the Official Secrets Act case
- National Accountability Bureau case concerning Al-Qadir University Trust
- Petition opposing Imran’s acquittal in the cipher case
- Punjab’s appeal against bail in 9 separate cases
- Imran’s appeal against a Rs10 billion defamation case by PM Shehbaz Sharif
Imran Khan has been imprisoned since August 2023 following convictions in several politically charged cases after his 2022 ouster. He faces sentences totaling decades, including 10 years in the cipher case and 14 years in corruption related to Al-Qadir Trust. His latest conviction in December 2025 added 17 years imprisonment in the Toshakhana case.
