Girls have secured more seats in Andhra Pradesh’s medical undergraduate admissions for 2025-26. They took between 76.17% and 85% of seats in dental and AYUSH programmes, while securing 60.72% of MBBS seats. The analysis from Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences was submitted by Vice-Chancellor P. Chandrasekhar to Health Minister Satya Kumar Yadav. It showed girls excelled in both convenor and management quota seats. Those who missed MBBS seats chose Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) and Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy (AYUSH) courses. Officials say this success may be due to girls preparing for medical exams from school days. The Health Department stated that out of 1,519 BDS seats in government and private colleges, girls secured 1,157 (76.17%). They also secured 380 of 526 homoeopathy seats (83.7%), 74 out of 98 Ayurveda seats, and 34 of 42 Unani seats. Girls earned 60.72% of MBBS seats. This trend continued from the 2024-25 academic year. Girls are also leading in postgraduate medical admissions happening now in the State.
