The delay in finishing the Road Over Bridge (ROB) at Teegalaguttapalli in Karimnagar is troubling commuters and locals in the 2nd and 3rd divisions of Karimnagar Municipal Corporation. The foundation stone was laid in July 2023, but the ROB is still incomplete. Work started under the Central government’s Setu Bandhan programme, costing about ₹154 crore. The ROB aims to ease heavy traffic at the railway level crossing near Karimnagar railway station. Political parties blame each other as traffic snarls worsen daily on the Karimnagar-Luxettipet highway near the unfinished structure. Dust from the construction site also worries nearby residents and motorists. To urge officials to speed up work, residents of several colonies have formed a WhatsApp group. “Traffic jams are common during peak hours. We have seen ambulances stuck in heavy traffic,” says Tirupathi, a Teegalaguttapalli resident. Another local, Ramesh from Saraswathi Nagar, says, “We don’t want assurances anymore. Speedy completion of the ROB is the only solution to our daily ordeal.” Officials did not respond to questions about the delay. With municipal elections on February 11, residents hope the ROB will soon be completed to ease their troubles.
