Hong Kong police raided a lawyer's office in Mong Kok on Monday night. This is part of an ongoing probe into an increase in "crash-for-cash" scams. In these scams, victims report fake or minor traffic accidents to demand large, delayed compensation. The police seized about 10 boxes of documents during the raid. The operation follows the recent arrest of two doctors and a married couple. They are accused of running more than 20 such scams. Officers from the commercial crime bureau are now investigating over 100 suspicious cases. The largest false compensation claim so far is more than HK$800,000 (around US$102,560).
