UAE Sets AED 50 Daily Overstay Fine for All Visa Holders with Easy Payment Options
February 10, 2026
The UAE has introduced a unified fine of AED 50 per day for anyone overstaying their visa, regardless of visa type. This move replaces older, varied rates for different visas to make penalties clear and simple. Tourist and visitor visas now start charging the fine right after expiry. Residents, however, get a 30-day grace period after visa cancellation before the fine applies.
Other fees like exit and service charges may also be added when paying fines. Unpaid fines can lead to exit bans, stopping travellers from leaving the UAE, and may block future visa approvals. Repeat offenders risk deportation or travel restrictions.
To help, UAE authorities offer easy ways to check and pay fines. You can pay online through the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security website or, for Dubai, the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs portal. In-person payments are possible at Amer centres, typing centres, and immigration counters at airports and borders.
Officials warn that all fines must be cleared before leaving the country to avoid travel blocks. To avoid fines, travellers should track visa expiry dates closely and apply for extensions or status changes on time.
This unified fine and easy payment system aim to keep visitors and residents informed and compliant, reducing surprises at immigration and saving money and hassle.
