The Pakistan Super League (PSL) 11 player auction is happening in Lahore for the first time. Eight teams bid on players with fast bowlers up first. Muhammad Ali was sold to Hyderabad Houstan Kingsmen for Rs21.5 million, beating Rawalpindi’s bid of Rs20.5 million. Chris Jordan went unsold with no bids. Lahore Qalandars kept Haris Rauf at Rs76 million, against Rawalpindi's Rs74.5 million offer. Muhammad Hasnain and some others did not get any bids. Naseem Shah drew strong attention as Karachi Kings and Islamabad United competed. Rawalpindi finally won Naseem for Rs86.5 million. Karachi Kings dropped out after that. In the next round, Barbadian Kyle Mayers and New Zealander Colin Munroe went unsold. Karachi Kings grabbed Australian David Warner for Rs79 million, outbidding Peshawar Zalmi. South African Rilee Rossouw was bought by Quetta Gladiators for Rs55 million. For all-rounders, Islamabad United paid Rs85 million for Faheem Ashraf. Some other all-rounders like Imaad Wasim and Mehidy Hasan Miraz got no bids. PSL CEO Salman Naseer said, “When the HBL PSL X ended... all commercial contracts had come to an end… monumental challenges lay ahead. PSL and PCB team have burnt out midnight oil day in and day out to get us where we are today.” The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) shared details that over 800 players registered. Base prices range from Rs6 million to Rs42 million. Minimum bid increments differ by base price level. Each team must have 16 to 20 players, with five to seven foreign players. At least three foreign players will be in the playing XI. Teams must also include two Under-23 uncapped players in the squad and one in the playing XI. Players signed will have two-year contracts. After PSL 11, teams can retain up to seven players for the next season. A big auction after PSL 12 will allow five retentions. Released players will re-enter the auction pool. Franchises can also directly sign one new foreign player outside the auction. Team budgets start at Rs450 million, extendable to Rs505 million including direct signings. PCB will help bring elite foreign players. The PSL 11 runs from March 26 to May 3 and will feature two new teams: Hyderabad and Sialkot, making eight teams in total.
