Twelve people died and six were injured in a crash involving an oil tanker and a passenger bus near Ansari Bridge on Karachi's M9 Motorway. Initial reports said 13 died and nine were hurt, but police surgeon Summaiya Syed confirmed the final toll. After the crash, spilled oil complicated rescue efforts as workers avoided electrical tools to prevent fire, manually cutting vehicles to free victims. Malir police said the bus was travelling the wrong way, causing the accident, while motorway police blamed a burst tyre on the tanker. Malir SSP Dr Abdul Khaliq Pirzada stated the oil tanker was traveling to Karachi, and the bus was Sanghar-bound when the accident happened. Four vehicles were involved: an oil tanker, passenger bus, van, and a goods-carrying trailer. Communication Minister Abdul Aleem Khan ordered an immediate probe and stressed strict tyre inspections for vehicles entering the motorway. Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah ordered an inquiry and promised action against those responsible, urging strict enforcement of traffic laws. Sindh Home Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar called for urgent medical care for the injured. President Asif Ali Zardari expressed deep sorrow, offering condolences and prayers for the victims and their families, and urged the government to provide the best medical treatment to the wounded.
