Hong Kong Flower Sales Rise 20% as Valentine’s Day Shoppers Splash Out
February 14, 2026
Flower sales in Hong Kong's Mong Kok have blossomed with a 20 percent increase this Valentine’s Day. Shoppers, especially men, crowded the Mong Kok Flower Market to buy bouquets, with many choosing roses. Prices ranged from HK$200 (US$25.60) for a few roses to HK$3,000 for large bouquets of up to 99 flowers. The heavy foot traffic along Tung Choi Street led police to implement crowd control measures. Edison Fung, an engineer in his thirties, spent HK$380 on roses for his girlfriend of four years. He said, “Last year I bought a Jellycat doll, and this year I don’t want to be repetitive.” His total spending on flowers, lunch, and gifts is about HK$1,000, the same as last year. Alongside Valentine’s Day, shoppers also browsed flowers to prepare for the upcoming Lunar New Year.
