The Kalaburagi Bench of Karnataka High Court allowed members of Hindutva organisations to perform Mahashivaratri rituals at a shivling located on the Hazrat Ladle Mashak Dargah grounds in Aland town. The court approved the petitions by Siddaramaiah Hiremath, Gurushant Tengli, and others to conduct rituals and rudrabhisheka at the shivling on the samadhi of Sri Raghav Chaitanya from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday. The samadhi and the shivling have been on dargah premises for nearly 400 years. The issue of puja at the site has caused conflict over the past four years, with devotees seeking court permission annually. The dargah management sought to stop the rituals by appealing to the Supreme Court and the High Court, but both courts refused to stay the proceedings. The Mahashivaratri puja will be conducted under police supervision. Due to the sensitive nature, the district administration imposed prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita across Aland town till Sunday midnight. Public gatherings are restricted and extra police deployed. The administration appealed to all residents to maintain peace and communal harmony.
