Trump’s $400M White House Ballroom Plans Revealed in Detailed Renderings
February 15, 2026
Detailed renderings of Donald Trump’s proposed $400 million White House ballroom were released on Friday by the National Capital Planning Commission (NCPC). The images show a large 90,000 sq ft addition set to be level with the White House mansion. The documents come ahead of a key NCPC hearing on March 5. Trump has placed allies on the NCPC and the Commission of Fine Arts, both reviewing the plans. CNN reported the renderings were removed from the NCPC website shortly after posting. The ballroom project started with controversy. In October, demolition of the East Wing began without formal approvals, sparking public outcry. Officials said demolition did not need prior approval and promised to submit construction plans. In December, the National Trust for Historic Preservation filed a lawsuit to stop the project, citing violations of preservation laws. The original architect was replaced that month with Shalom Baranes Associates. The project is funded by private donors and companies like Meta, Apple, Amazon, and Google. Trump shared two renderings on social media, claiming, “It is on budget, and ahead of schedule!” and calling it “the finest Ballroom ever built anywhere in the World.” Joshua Fisher, director of the White House Office of Administration, defended the East Wing demolition in a February memo. He said it was the best way to solve long-standing issues and that historical parts were carefully preserved. Fisher also assured that no damage was done to the White House mansion and said the project would improve visitor experiences and security screening.
