Can AI chatbots tell fortunes or just guess? Hong Kong astrologer Sunny Fung says no. He believes AI can't replace real soothsayers. "Chatbots lack a ‘sixth sense,’" he told the South China Morning Post. Feng shui masters warned AI might make mistakes, especially in metaphysics based on ancient Chinese wisdom. A popular post on Threads taught people how to use chatbots for fortune telling. It got over 1,000 likes, 2,200 shares, and sparked 150 comments debating if AI fate-telling is real or fake. The South China Morning Post tested two AI chatbots, Gemini and DeepSeek. They asked about Hong Kong's fortune in the Year of the Horse. Both said 2026 would be the Year of the Horse, describing the astrological chart as full of fire and low on water. They warned this mix could lead to more social friction. A Hong Kong feng shui master agreed with these warnings. But experts say AI chatbots only mimic data; they miss the deep insight and experience real astrologers have. So for now, human fortune tellers still hold the key to the future.
