KARACHI: A fire erupted on Tuesday at a chemical factory near Valika Chowrangi in Karachi's SITE Industrial Area. Rescue 1122 said the blaze is now under control and cooling efforts are ongoing. "A fire brigade truck, along with rescue teams, was immediately dispatched to the site," said a Rescue 1122 spokesperson. Sindh Rangers also sent personnel who joined relief and rescue work. Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab posted on X, "KMC fire team is attending to the fire incident reported at a factory in SITE Industrial Area. Will keep everyone posted." He urged all Karachi Municipal Corporation departments to stay alert and ordered emergency steps, including involving water board authorities. "All possible steps should be taken to control the fire," the mayor said. "There will be no compromise made on the safety of human lives." Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah instructed Mayor Wahab and the commissioner to oversee rescue efforts and investigate the fire's cause. This fire comes a day after a large bush fire near the University of Karachi was controlled.
