The footbridge connecting Hong Kong's Central Pier to the International Financial Centre (IFC) will close today for demolition. Wednesday is the last day the public can use the old bridge. Henderson Land Development announced a new temporary walkway will open on Thursday near the current bridge. Residents gathered on Wednesday to take final photos of the azure blue bridge. Lukas Mok, 25, said, “In the past you could get a view of the [ferris] wheel and the clock tower in one shot, but now you cannot.” He added, “I wanted to take a last photo of the new bridge through the old bridge ... It does not mean a lot but it means a lot to me.” The existing footbridge was built by the government and opened in 2007 after the Star Ferry Pier was moved to its current location in 2006.
