The festive mood is on the rise in West Bengal, and the government is set to sprinkle some extra joy on its employees! With Durga Puja celebrations starting on September 26, the West Bengal government announced on Wednesday that it will release employees’ September salaries early this year. According to a circular from the state Finance Department on Tuesday, all staff will get their September payments on the 24th and 25th of September — just ahead of the holidays. This special move covers not only regular pay but also grant-in-aid payments, wages, remuneration, stipends, and honorariums. What a treat before the biggest festival in Bengal! But don’t get too excited about pensions just yet. The circular confirms, "pension payments for the month will be credited on October 1." So pensioners will get their funds a little later. Explaining the reason, an official said, "This decision is taken to provide financial relief to employees ahead of the biggest festival of Bengal." Indeed, with so much shopping, puja preparations, and celebrations ahead, this early money can come as a big help. There’s more good news! The government also stated that direct benefit transfers (DBT) for welfare schemes like 'Lakshmir Bhandar' will be credited into beneficiaries' bank accounts on October 1. This helps vulnerable sections get their benefits soon after the festival. To ensure everything flows smoothly, the Finance Department has instructed drawing and disbursing officers (DDOs) and deposit account admins from various departments to submit their bills and advice early to the treasury. This way, no delay spoils the festive spirit! Mark your calendars: Durga Puja will be celebrated from September 28 to October 2 this year, promising grand events and joyous moments for all in West Bengal. With this early salary boost, employees can fully dive into the celebrations without money worries.
