Cyclone Ditwah Storms Over Sri Lanka, Heavy Rain Hits Tamil Nadu Delta Districts This Weekend
November 28, 2025
Cyclone Ditwah is making waves! Positioned now over coastal Sri Lanka and the nearby southwest Bay of Bengal, this fierce storm is ready to shower intense rains on Tamil Nadu’s delta and nearby districts starting Friday.
Why do cyclones rush towards land? It’s a classic move as these storms draw energy from warm sea water and then head for the land's cooler face. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) is on high alert. They have issued a yellow alert for five coastal and delta districts, including Ramanathapuram and Thanjavur. But that's not all!
The storm is expected to gain strength, so the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) has fired up orange and yellow alerts for other delta districts like Ariyalur and Cuddalore for November 28, 2025.
Hold on, folks! The IMD warns of very heavy to scattered extremely heavy rainfall across Rayalaseema and South Coastal Andhra Pradesh on November 29, 30, and December 1. Ditwah is inching closer to Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh, promising a wet weekend.
Stay tuned and stay safe. The powerful Cyclone Ditwah is here, and the rains are set to pour!
