Mantri Mall is back in the news, but this time for paying a big amount towards its unpaid property tax. The mall had been shut down on November 20 because it owed a massive ₹30 crore in property tax! Just a few days later, it made a partial payment of ₹5 crore to the Central Corporation, showing some serious action on its part. Corporation Commissioner Rajendra Cholan P. personally received this payment during his visit to the property tax verification centre in Chickpet. Mr. Cholan didn’t hold back and said, "The central corporation has many commercial establishments, and several have pending tax payments. We are doing a follow up on those establishments." It’s clear that the Corporation is stepping up its game to recover dues from all big commercial places. The message is loud and clear: pay your taxes or face tough consequences. Will other property owners follow Mantri Mall’s lead now? Only time will tell!
