The Forest Department captured a 3-year-old tiger in Devarsholai, Gudalur, on Saturday morning (November 29, 2025). The tiger had been preying on cattle in the area for months, raising fears of conflicts with humans. To trap the animal, the department placed a cage recently. A special team, including the Divisional Forest Officer, Veterinary Assistant Surgeon from Mudumalai, and conservationists from various NGOs, oversaw the capture and will manage the tiger's release. Vengatesh Prabhu, Gudalur District Forest Officer, told reporters, "The Forest Department was waiting for the tiger to calm down before it is moved to a smaller cage for easier transportation and relocation." Officials are yet to decide the new area for relocation. Meanwhile, the department continues tracking another tiger in Mudumalai linked to the killing of a 70-year-old adivasi woman on Monday (November 24).
