Telangana saw a huge number of nominations for the first phase of its Gram Panchayat Elections 2025. A total of 25,654 nominations were filed for 4,236 Sarpanch posts. For 37,440 Ward Member posts, 82,276 nominations were received. The nomination filing started on Thursday, November 27 at 10:30 a.m. and ended on Saturday, November 29 at 5 p.m. In some districts like Gadwal, the process extended into the night due to a last-minute rush. According to the Telangana State Election Commission, 70% of the Sarpanch nominations (17,940) and 85% of the Ward Member nominations (70,596) were filed on the final day, Saturday. Candidates have until 3 p.m. on Wednesday, December 3 to withdraw nominations. The final list of candidates will also be published on that day. The Gram Panchayat polls will be held in three phases. Phase 1 is scheduled for December 11, phase 2 for December 14, and phase 3 for December 17. Nominations for phase 2 open on Sunday, November 30 and close on Tuesday at 5 p.m. Elections will be held for 12,728 Sarpanch and 1,12,242 Ward Member seats in the next phases.
