Hyderabad Traffic Police Book 552 Drunk Drivers in Two-Day Drive
November 30, 2025
The Hyderabad Traffic Police booked 552 motorists for drunk driving during a special enforcement drive on November 28-29. This drive aims to reduce late-night crashes and stop repeat offenders. Out of those caught, 438 rode two-wheelers, 45 drove three-wheelers, and 69 were in cars or other vehicles. Police said this shows that two-wheeler riders make up most offenders. Breathalyser tests revealed 127 motorists had alcohol levels between 30 and 50 mg. Two hundred twelve tested between 51 and 100 mg. One hundred twelve were between 101 and 150 mg, 64 between 151 and 200 mg, 19 between 201 and 250 mg, 8 between 251 and 300 mg, and 10 had levels above 300 mg. Officers called the high levels "reckless to the point of absurdity," saying such readings leave no room for excuses like "just one drink." Traffic police warned that Hyderabad will keep a zero-tolerance policy for drunk driving. They promised more surprise checks and urged drivers to cooperate to avoid penalties. The goal is to keep Hyderabad's roads from turning into tricky late-night obstacle courses.
