The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Thiruvananthapuram has made a grand promise in its local body election manifesto. The party pledged to ask the Union government to make Thiruvananthapuram one of the host venues for the 2036 Olympic Games. This announcement came with the bidding process for the 2036 Olympics still ongoing, and India among the many bidders. Rajeev Chandrasekhar, BJP State Chief, had expressed similar hopes for the city back in 2024. The manifesto was released on Sunday, adding an ambitious twist to the local election race.
