EC Extends Kerala Electoral Roll Revision Deadline to December 11 to Trace Missing Voters
November 30, 2025
The Election Commission (EC) of India has extended the deadline for Kerala's Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls from December 4 to December 11. Chief Electoral Officer of Kerala, Rathan U. Kelkar, said the additional time aims to improve the quality of voter enumeration and locate 'missing' voters.
Currently, around 11.12 lakh voters are on the 'uncollectable' forms list. This includes 5 lakh deceased voters, along with untraceable voters, those absent, considered permanently shifted, duplicates, and voters who have not responded to enumeration forms.
The extra week will be used to trace these people and encourage their participation in the SIR process. The draft electoral roll is scheduled to be published on December 16, with the final rolls due by February 14, 2026.
Meetings involving booth-level officers (BLO) and booth-level agents (BLA) from political parties will be held across booths to discuss untraceable voters and missing forms. Feedback from these meetings will aid in finalizing the electoral rolls.
Additionally, special drives will accept fresh enrolment applications through Form 6. Booths with completed digitization will prioritize new applications, which will be processed after the draft rolls are out, said Mr. Kelkar.
